www.stella-vega.de

The stella-vega domain hosts the Double Star Calculator, a collection of tools designed for the study and analysis of double stars, and includes a link to my personal blog, hwi68.

The Double Star Calculator

The core tool calculates various results based on Gaia data records of two closely spaced stars. It estimates the likelihood of the pair being a common proper motion (CPM) pair, a physical binary, or just an optical pair. The tool integrates the Aladin Sky Atlas and shows the corresponding entry from the Washington Double Star Catalog (WDS) for the selected pair. My own measurements, such as angular separation and position angle, are also available for many pairs, including image data where available.

The Double Star Calculator - Orbital Elements

Another tool, the Double Star Calculator - Orbital Elements, uses orbital elements, either entered manually or retrieved from the WDS Sixth Catalog of Orbits of Visual Binary Stars, to calculate the orbit of a double star. It generates a plot of the orbital ellipse and an ephemeris table for a selected time range or a full orbital period.

The Double Star Calculator - Convert Date & Time

A third tool, Convert Date & Time, converts any given date and time to the corresponding Julian Date, as well as to Julian and Bessel epochs, and vice versa.

Blog hwi68 - Astronomy and analog film photography

My personal blog hwi68 features articles on astronomy, photography, and other topics, with a focus on analog film photography.
